The 2010 Pacesetter “Shooting and Offensive Skills” Camps will be offered for players entering grades 6-7-8-9-10 in 2010-2011 on the following dates:
Boys and Girls: June 15-17
Paynesville High School, Paynesville, MN
24-hour teaching program – average player/coach ratio of 10:1 or less
Pacesetter Basketball offered two Shooting Camps in 2009. Jeff McCarron directed the Boys' Shooting Camp in 2008, and Pat Dewey and Dan Freidel directed the Girls' Shooting Camp.
Each program was an extensive 24-hour, 3-day teaching camp designed to help each player make improvements in his/her shooting technique. Players were taught by three of the leading shooting coaches in the Midwest, and all players had their shooting techniques reviewed on videotape.
At each camp a variety of shots will be taught along with special moves to get open for these shots in game situations. The focus will be on learning technique first, practicing repetitions second, and creating shots in game situations third. Each player will receive a thorough review of their shooting form and a take-home shooting program.
The 2010 camps will include all offensive skills in half-court and full court situations including one-on-one moves, two-on-two skills, such as give and go, screen and roll, etc., and three-on-three play. Players will also learn full-court ballhandling and fastbreaking skills. Players will play half-court and full-court games as a feature of this comprehensive program. A number of contests and challenges will also be added to keep the camps lively and fun.
Coaching Staff
Jeff McCarron, Pacesetter Director, and a shooting clinician since 1976, conducted the 2006, 2008, and 2009 boys’ shooting camps. McCarron was a member of a high school state champion at Sherburn in 1970 and a member of the Minnesota Gopher Big Ten Champions in 1972 and has been the director of Pacesetter Basketball since 1980.
Registration Information
Each camp is limited to only 48 players. These camps have filled quickly in the past, so interested players are encouraged to register soon. Registration forms will be available on this site as soon as dates and sites for 2010 are finalized.
Camp Fees and Room and Board option
Players have the option of attending as a commuter (no room and board) or as a residential camper (includes room and board). Commuting campers may also pay for meals on a per meal basis. Last year’s fees were $170 for the camp and $110 for room and board.
Supervision
Players will have supervision 24 hours a day by the Pacesetter staff. The Pacesetter coaching staff accompanies all campers to the food service and back to the gym. Pacesetter staff also stay in rooms next to the campers for 24-hour supervision.
