Pacesetter Basketball offered two Shooting Camps in 2008. Each program was an extensive 24-hour, 3-day teaching camp designed to help each player make improvements in his/her shooting technique.
Shooting camps will be provided again with dates announced soon. At each camp a variety of shots will be taught along with special moves to get open for these shots in game situations. The focus will be on learning technique first, practicing repetitions second, and creating shots in game situations third. Players will also play half-court and full-court games as a feature of this comprehensive program. A number of contests and challenges will also be added to keep the camps lively and fun.
Jeff McCarron directed the Boys' Shooting Camp in 2008 and Paul McDonald directed the Girls' Shooting Camp.
Coaching Staff
Jeff McCarron, Pacesetter Director, and a shooting clinician since 1976, conducted the 2006 shooting camp. McCarron was a member of a high school state champion at Sherburn in 1970 and a member of the Minnesota Gopher Big Ten Champions in 1972. Coach McCarron will be conducting the June camp, and Paul McDonald, head coach at Vermilion Community College, will be conducting the July camp. He will be bringing his own two daughters. Paul McDonald is the second oldest child in the famous McDonald basketball family. His father is the winningest coach in Minnesota history with over 700 wins, and ALL six of the McDonald children became 1,000-point scorers and were also head coaches in Minnesota at one time. Paul led Chisholm to Minnesota state championships in 1973 and 1975.
Registration Information
Each camp is limited to only 48 players. This camp filled quickly last summer, so interested players are encouraged to register soon.
