The Pacesetter "Sweet Sixteen" is the most prestigious summer basketball
tournament in Minnesota, annually featuring a number of teams that go on to
win the Minnesota High School state championships.
Seven of the eight 2008 Minnesota State High School champions had summer teams in the 2007 Sweet 16: St. Paul Central girls (AAAA), Albany girls (AA), Ada-Borup girls (A), Minnetonka boys (AAAA), Benilde-St. Margaret's boys (AAA), New London-Spicer boys (AA), and Ellsworth boys (A).
Pacesetter invites the
top 4 teams from each class for both boys and girls and then mixes one from
each class within each bracket of 4 teams. Each team is guaranteed 4
regulation-length games as the teams play down to a single champion.
